Malibu-Lost Hills Station Receives Highest Ranking in Global Study

April 6, 2010

An independent study recently recognized the Malibu-Lost Hills station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as the highest-rated patrol station in the nation.

The Vera Institute of Justice and Altus Global Alliance conducted the study during visits to more than 200 sheriff and police patrol stations around the globe. Although the global average was 62.09, the local station scored 96 out of 100.

In addition to the on-site visits, community members rated the quality of services the departments provided. Other elements factored in included transparency and accountability, community orientation, equal treatment of the public without bias, physical condition of the stations and detention conditions.

Although police stations in more than 20 countries on five different continents participated in the survey, the U.S. was the only country that participated in the North America division. The average score for participating U.S. patrol stations was 79.22, which was the highest of any participating country.
